That's pretty much what happened. Familiar got good... it seemed
pointless trying to maintain intimate versions of the same packages

I tried my hardest to get given a free PXA based machine, but it never
happened... So I don't have a platform to test anything newer than h3600
on. If CRL have got the bootloader and kernel working on PXA then
there's no technical reasons why intimate shouldn't work.

There's problems with the CF drivers too... Last time I tried, the
PCMCIA support was refusing to wake cards that had been put into standby
(i.e. after sleep)... Not exactly helpful when you're root filesystem
is on a pcmcia/cf card. Back in 2001, the CF support actually worked
pretty well, and I could put my iPAQ into standby with the CF sleeve
(but not with PCMCIA sleeve)

PCMCIA support never worked properly for me, and after a few months CF
stopped being able to wake the cards too. After years of trying to get
them to handle sleep-mode every time I fely like hacking on intimate, I
eventually gave up trying to get my h3600 doing something useful and
left it to gather dust with a freshly installed copy of Familiar 0.70
