Downgrading the bootloader

I installed Familiar 7.2, and now I want to install Intimate. Whatever I
do, I can't boot Intimate from my card using the last version of the
bootloader.

So:
1 - how can I "downgrade" the bootloader without risking to end up with a
brick?

2 - Does the last known version of the loader capable of booting Intimate
can also boot Familiar 7.2?
