I'd hunt around for a libxft2 package in testing and unstable. Om my
desktop machine, such a package is available, but maybe it's not been
compiled for arm yet, or something else.

You could try building icewm from source, or building the debian
package.

For building the debian package, the following commands might be
useful:

apt-get source libxft2
apt-get build-dep libxft2
cd libxft2 && dpkg-buildpackage -uc -us
