Hmm, the dist-upgrade all seemed to go very well. However, I did notice icewm
wasn't upgraded, and now it boots up into something that looks and acts very,
very different from the icewm I was running. Looking to see what's running, I
see that icewm and xstroke are both running, but the screen looks like the older
blackbox, or maybe it's matchbox. Fairly crude looking and there are some pop up
menus, just having to do with the window, but nothing like icewm. Bizarre.
And when I try to upgrade icewm, I get this:
intimate:/etc# apt-get upgrade icewm --ignore-hold
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following packages have been kept back
icewm matchbox xkbd
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 3 not upgraded.
So I thought I'd try removing icewm, and then installing it again, but then I
get:
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
icewm: Depends: libxft2 (> 2.1.1) but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
running apt-cache search libxft2 just gives:
mozilla-xft - Mozilla Web Browser - Xft support files
