Hi, all
This is not familiar-specific, but this is where most of the
linux-on-ipaq folks seem to be.
I had trouble with my usbnet connection again today, and solved
it myself after some head-scratching and trial-and-error, but
got to thinking that it would have been handy if someone had
told me this when I started:
USB/IPAQ charge/sync cables can be a bit touchy. They can be
plugged in well enough to charge yet not be plugged in well
enough to do USB networking. This is exacerbated by the fact
that the connector hangs out a bit, presumably to leave room
to go through a case. USB cradles are less touchy, the cradle
and power supply combo bulk is tolable only if you stay put.
You can usually tell that you don't have a good connection
because ifconfig (on the host machine's side) complains
that it doesn't know what usb0 is (assuming modprobe
usbnet was successful).
Perhaps it would be good to collect other experiences for
inclusion into a FAQ.
