setting up ipaq with new install method

Hello;
          I have been trying without success to install intimate linux
to my ipaq 3670. I have an Toshiba ide 5Gb pcmcia disk and it this is
the error I get
Kernel Panic: VFS: unable to mount root filesystem on device 01:00. I
have tried this with both a 10M msdos fat16 partition and an ext3 linux
partition and a 2Gb fat 16 partition and a linux ext3 filesystem. Any
help would be greatly appreciated. I want to keep PocketPC on the flash
disk until I can port some maps for a gps.
