adding new ethernet card to /etc/pcmcia/config

I'd like to add support for the NetGear PCMCIA Notebook Adapter for ethernet.
The following needs to be cut and pasted into /etc/pcmcia/config:

card "NetGear FA411 Fast Ethernet"
     version "NETGEAR", "FA411"
     bind "pcnet_cs"

I've tried myself, but writing the edited file results in a saved file with no
characters. I suspect it's because I'm editing a file only in RAM.
