Hello all,
I'm setting up a iPaq for running Linux, and I'm trying to figure out which
filesystems to put on my cards. I'd like a filesystem that supports
transparent compression and works well on these cards. Journalling would be
nice too, unless fscking is very fast on flash cards. Compression, in
particular, seems to be a difficult requirement, but its important to me
since flash cards are expensive. My options seem to be limited to:
1) jffs2 running over blkmtd emulation. However, people have said that
jffs2 wear-leveling and compactflash wear-leveling don't interact well
together, and blkmtd seems to be a bit of a kludgy solution.
2) ext2 using e2compr patches. Unfortunately, these patches seem to have
suffered from non-maintenance since about 1999, and don't even work with
newer kernels or ext3 journalling at all.
Is that it? Are there any better choices for flash cards?
Tom
