Subject: [Intimate] Root password?
So, the last time I installed intimate, I don't remember running into
this. During the intimate setup, there's no prompt for a root password.
And rebooting to intimate, what I thought would work, 'rootme' since
that what familiar uses, didn't.
?? I'm I missing something silly here?
Not sure if this is the same problem that I ran into or not. I have found
that all of the versions of intimate that I have installed, only the
tarballed version from intimate.handhelds.org gave me no problems with
logins etc.
All of the others (rsync'd copies or using the installer)gave me 'initgroup'
errors on login. As of last night, as I was trying to get the tarball to be
equivalent to the rsync'd intimate-release module, I got as far as locating
the problem in /etc/groups or /etc/pam.d. I haven't found exactly what the
problem was, but copying the relevant dirs from the tarball version over
newer versions solves it (I know, I know, it's ugly, but it was late!).
Another one that gave me problems with the newer releases was ssh, which
would either hang completely as startup of refuse any connections if I could
get it to start. Replacing it with the Familiar version solved that (I think
there may be details abotu that problem on the Intimate bugs page or on the
Wiki).
Hope that helps,
Ben
