df shows wrong size

Hi,

df shows wrong size used/left, it says ive used 50% and have 50% left on my 256 mb card, but thats not the case, i have 220 mb on hda1 and the rest is for swap, the disk went full last night and it still showed 50 % left, when i did a df -m / it showed 225 mb so there was no space left.
Is there a way to correct this?

I needed more space (who doesent), so i kicked out all man pages and howtos, do ne1 here have advice on more stuff thats safe to take away? Like i dont use Vi, what packages can i saftly remove? Can i strip debug headers? Pls: advice so i get room for the stuff i need.
