intimate + familiar 5.2 != ppp connection

Hi all,
After installing intimate on my Ipaq 3630 familiar 5.2 i cant get serial ppp to work again, it worked fine before the install but now i get:

saga:~# Serial connection established.
Using interface ppp0
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0
LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Connection terminated.
Receive serial link is not 8-bit clean:
Problem: all had bit 7 set to 0

Ive followed the advices in the ppphowto and set the s and x flag on pppd without luck, i get an error when loading ppp_generic:

intimate:~# insmod ppp_generic
Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk3/kernel/drivers/net/ppp_generic.o
PPP generic driver version 2.4.1
devfs_register(ppp): could not append to parent, err: -17

but it loads and seem to work.

Pls. advice!
