Bingo...actually all I had todo was #3. my /etc/pcmcia and
/lib/modules/<version> were already the same. Addtitionally I had to
insert the card AFTER i was presented with the choice of boot options
(familiar vs intimate). I have todo the same with my microdrive,
otherwise it won't get recognized. Annoying, but livable. Thanks for the
help.
