It has been a short love story....even if it was intense!! Yesterday I
bought an IBM 340Mb microdrive, a dual PCMCIA sleeve and an ethernet card
for my 3660 (same as 3670 I suppose, diffrent naming here in Australia). My
intention was to install Familiar and then fill up my little microdrive with
Intimate....If I only knew what I would have gone through!! Please keep in
mind that I am familiar with Linux on x86 and Sparc platforms, so...I am not
a complete newbie.
First of all the ethernet card: D-link DFE 650TX, which on handhelds.org is
reported to work 'out of the box'....well, it isn't.
Various attempt to get it working got me nowhere. Took it back and got a
Netgear FA411, modified /etc/pcmcia/config accordingly...to no avail. At
boot the card was recognised and configured, but no link at all whatsoever.
Very, very strange....
I spent two days and one night trying to work around these issues, to no
avail...I am about to reflash PocketPC 2002 on it...at least I'll have
plenty of space for my music on the microdrive, once I put it back.
If any 'handheld Linux guru' would care to enlighten me about those problems
then I might try again....otherwise it's back to PPC 2002, or maybe
Familiar+QPE/Opie.
Thanks in advance for reading!
