IBM microdrive.

Hi all,
here's my first question to this mailing list, so please be kind!!
Is a 340MB IBM microdrive enough to install Intimate plus maybe X and/or QPE
and/or KDE?? If not, which one is best? The 1GB one...?? Too expensive yet!!
Another questioin involves ethernet cards; which ones are known to work
reliably under Intimate?
