Yep. You can redefine the keys in Doom. You might also find that xmodmap for
assigning keystrokes to buttons comes in handy... (Special hint.. Use the
power button for fire, and the d-pad centre button for strafe. They're the
only chordable keys.)

You should be able to build pretty much anything you want with 64MB + Swap..
The only thing I've failed to build with 32M was QT/X11.
