RE: gcc installation failure on intimate build

Jim,

The problem you are experiencing is because debian is often in a state of
flux. The -all debian packages are built with x86 boxes, and often make it
into the repositary many hours before the -arm packages. This tends to break
all the dependencies for a few hours until the -arm packages catch up

Chances are that if you try again today, it'll work.

Good luck,

Jim

Subject: [Intimate] gcc installation failure on intimate build

I just built a new system with familiar 0.5, and put
a microdrive on it, and did the intimate/reiser/install.
gcc didn't install. E.g,.

# apt-get install cpp gcc etc... fails (see below)

I think the problem is that somehow versions 2.95-4.8
are being sought but they do not exist. The debian.org
site has 4.9 versions. Can someone PLEASE tell me how
to get cpp/gcc installed, as a favor.

                                regards,

Just an fyi.. you can play with the kiss bootstrap from
kiss.handhelds.org/task-bootstrap-2.4.16.jffs2 (and .md5sum). The
install-kiss stuff is in a massive state of flux, but the bootstrap is a
very-basic system (no X etc) and boots intimate.

The 2.4.16 kernel on there is home-grown, so you'll still have to copy the
modules across to Intimate (or do the symlink stuff as Tangent indicated.)

Tangent - can you post info on that? I might get bored and want to update
it (or at least try it) on pocketpc 2002..
