sound problems

Hi,
I am having big problems getting any sort of sound out
of the iPAQ with Intimate installed. There are loads of
errors about no desp device found and no mixer device found etc
etc.
I have seen the mails about making symbolic links to /dev/sound/mixer
etc but there are no devices in /dev/sound. Can anyone help please.
