Hey everyone,
Still not sure about sound, but Intimate is finally booting! I added a
'modprobe h3600_generic_sleeve' to the /linuxrc.initmate file, and used
the linuxargs:
set linuxargs "noinitrd root=/dev/mtdblock/2 init=/linuxrc.intimate
console=ttySA0 devfs=mount"
Now I just need to get rid of that awful X screen that comes up. But the
system is booting.
Now that I have a working system, I'll wipe everything off the Ipaq and
reinstall, documenting the process step-by-step. Who should I send it
to, just the mailing list?
Thanks for everyone's help, I'll post a complete procedure here
regardless, from the ground up. I still want to make sure sound is
working, maybe I'll load an MP3.
Jason

Subject: [Intimate] worked yesterday, broken today...
Did something change real recently in, say, the h3600 sleeve modules,
or the reiserfs modules, or the Intimate installer... as I reported
few days ago, back then my setup worked, now it doesn't...
What I do is:
(1) I have task-bootstrap.tar.gz from Sep 29, (still there,
ftp://familiar.handhelds.org/familiar/feeds/unstable/install/H3600/)
that I unpack and inject our WLAN settings and various other small
config stuff
(2) I repackage the directorynto a jffs2 image
(3) Flash it in
(4) Run another script that installs task-complete et alia
Everything up to this point works just fine as it did yesterday... but
the following
steps result in a mangled iPAQ:
(5) Install reiserfs-module, reiserfs-modules-2.4.7-rmk3-np1-devfs,
backpaq-modules-2.4.7-rmk3-np1-devfs
(6) Get and run the Intimate beta-installer
(7) Do the needed edits: ttySA0 in inittab and securetty, mtdblock/2 in
fstab,
h3600_generic_sleeve in linuxrc.intimate.
(8) Using ipaqbb patch the linuxargs to point to mtdblock/2.
The result is that the microdrive seems once again have gone bye-bye:
