installing Intimate on dual-sleeve ipaq?

Hi,

I'd like to install Intimate on a dual-sleeve ipaq, using a PC card
adapter to a notebook hard drive in one slot and a wireless card in the
other slot.

Generic familiar 0.4 doesn't support the dual-sleeve so I upgraded to
the 2.4.6 kernel (as per the instructions here
http://www.handhelds.org/z/wiki/Linux2.4.6). Then I discovered by looking
at previous postings, that the kernel doesn't have devfs built in and
that causes problems with the install process.

Any suggestions on the best way to proceed?

If this works out well, we'll be adding a couple of these machines
to our external skiffcluster.
