Sascha,

I can't remember the useage for the einfo command, but it's not important..
If you just mount /dev/mtdblock4 as jffs2, then jffs2 will work it out an
create a filesystem anyhow.

However...

It's not currently possible to use intimate on a jffs2 filesystem, as jffs2
doesn not support shared writable mmap, which is exactly what apt-get uses
to update the list of available packages. You could almost certainly work
around this by holding the package lists in ram, or something similar, but
no-one has tried this yet.

Your best bet to get things up and running is to use the .tgz from the
downloads page on intiamte.handhelds.org, and untar this direct to newly
mounted filesystem. apt-get will fail until you find some workaround for the
package lists (i.e. storing them on a filesystem that does support shared
writable mmap, such as ramfs, reiserfs, ext2, FAT16 etc etc)

Hope this gets you started.. If not, come and find me (Tangent) on #intimate
on irc.openprojects.net.

Good luck,

Jim

Subject: [Intimate] CF-Card with blkmtd

Hi all!

I bought a 128MB CF-Card a few days ago and now want to try intimate on my
iPAQ, using the blkmtd driver. By now, a few questions arised and i hope
they
are not too stupid.

By partitioning my card for having a swap device, will this device later be
compressed too, or should the swap-device be real 32 MB, leaving the other
96MB for compression?

When I execute einfo /dev/mtdblock4 I just get nothing. The programm seems
to exit normally but doesn't print any block count.

Thanks for any help,

Sascha
