yes, any device which shows up as a block device should work.
On my test box, in normally use a floppy disk as flash memory ;)

its basically zlib (gzip). when I was testing, i copied a compiled linux
kernel onto a drive (twice) and got about 2.6:1. Of couse compression is
dependant on file type.

yes, you should just be able to create two partitions then make one
jffs2. a partition is also just a block device as far as linux is concerned

I dont know much about getting it working with familair as i dont actually own
an IPAQ.

note, it is now called blkmtd not mtdblkdev (that was the original name)
