Amir,
Ubuntu is based on Debian, but takes care of some of the common
hassles and adds some pretty standard things (that you'll probably
want anyway). On that same note, you're likely to get a lot of
packages that you don't need with Ubuntu. But other than that, you
really won't notice much of a difference. Package management is the
same, both use apt which is very nice - i recommend compiling from
source though to get the most out of your Transmetta.
I'm running Ubuntu (Breezy) on a few tc1100's for work and they are
doing nicely. If speed is a concern, I'd highly recommend using
something like Gentoo and compiling everything from source (because
you'll probably find that your processor is chugging away most of the
time), but if you're just looking for something quick and easy, go
for Ubuntu.
