hi tc1000 users,
to turn the screen really off (i mean also the backlight), try to add this:
Option "DPMS"
in your XFree86-4 config file, section "Monitor"
- (you have to figure out wich location of the file your system use)
- maybe i have misspelled the name of the file, since now i use gentoo distribution with xorg X server. but it has to be the same way for the XFree
- i use nvidia driver, not the last one but that with name 5336 or whatever
once added Option DPMS in your config file, section Monitor, you should be able to switch off the screen with
xset dpms force off
as i've read in the mailling list. hope that helps, bliq
