You have to use the 5336 nvida driver (I think that's right) at least on
gentoo, try it out.

Well, *that* burned some time. I finally ended up compiling a new kernel on
my
desktop machine (it's much faster), and using rsync to move the build
directory over to the tablet.
So I have a 2.6.9-rc4 kernel, KDE 3.3, etc. installed.
I have the following working:
* ethernet (though it seems to always use DHCP rather than the static
address
I set in /etc/network/interfaces)
* wireless (after I remembered to load the firmware)
* X (using the nv driver)
* ACPI and laptop tools
* KDE and KDM boot manager
* external USB and USB storage devices
* internal mouse and keyboard
* sound
* longhaul driver
I have not yet installed:
* pen driver
* SmartLink modem server (I'm going to use the ALSA AC97 modem driver)
* keymappings for buttons (though I see them in the system log)
I'm having some problems with:
* display backlight -- "xset dpms force off" leaves the backlight on, though
the screen goes black. How do I turn this off?
* rivafb -- At least the text is stable! However...
I have a kernel argument
video=rivafb:1024x768@60
but I always get a 640x480 window centered inside the 1024x768 space (i.e.
big
black borders that aren't being used).
I have also tried
video=rivafb:1024x768-60
and other things. They seem to be ignored.
Does anyone know how to get a full framebuffer?
* NVIDIA 6111 driver -- works, but when I try to switch to a text console,
it
hangs the system. I'd like to use this for its GLX support.
Any ideas on these problems would be welcome!
Thanks,
