I've just installed Mandrake 10 following the tutorial and it's worked
fine. However, I'm trying to install the wireless card with little
success. I compiled the atmelwlandriver with 'make pci
buildonly=release' and did an appropriate modprobe. The result of this
was a new network device atml0 (and the light on the front started
flashing). I configured /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-atml0 to
include the appropriate WIRELESS_ESSID and WIRELESS_ENC_KEY, along with
the various other standard entries
(DEVICE,BOOTPROTO,NETMASK,ONBOOT,HWADDR,MII_NOT_SUPPORTED - I don't know
what this means, DHCP_HOSTNAME). I then did 'ifup atml0' and it
connected -- ifconfig reported an ip address had been allocated by dhcp
and the device appeared in the dhcp table of the router.

However, I can't use the connection -- I've tried pinging the router
(which could obviously talk to the card enough to get an ip address),
but it results in:

PING 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 56(84) bytes of data.

...

Any help that anyone can offer in this would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance,

Al
