I used the gentoo universal live CD (am trying to install it now on one
of the laptops) and did a "modprobe eepro100" -- that got the network
operational (I might have had to do a net-setup eth0 as well, can't
remember now).

I've got the pen working in Mandrake on the other laptop -- using the
fpi2002-0.2 for kernel 2.6 mentioned earlier in this thread. If you
need a description of how to do this, I'll have a go at remembering how
I did it. As for the wireless card, I can't get the internal one
working or my Netgear MA401, which works fine on Mandrake 10 on my Sony.
Ah well... keep trying. I'm hoping that I have more success with
Gentoo, although with my limited experience, I suspect that this is
hideously optimistic. Ah well.

Any help I can offer I will try to provide (and any help anyone can give
regarding the internal network card and Mandrake I will be happy to
receive!).

Cheers,

Al
