Red Hat Install

I, too, was able to get RH 9 running "fairly"
painlessly once I understood how to set up a dual boot
environment and GRUB properly.

I can confirm the power management, pen and wireless
functions do not work right out of the box. I did set
up my DSL though, so fortunately I can get out to the
Internet. I would love to get these functions working,
and don't mind tinkering.

For what it's worth, Mandrake 9.1 was pretty similar
to RH 9, except configuring LILO was a little
different than GRUB. Mandrake automatically set the
monitor correctly, while in RH I had to select it
manually during install to get 1024 X 768 resolution.

I was able to get Lindows 4.0 (Debian) installed on my
TC1K, but since Lindows sets things up differently, I
couldn't get the dual boot configuration right. Also,
networking did not work either, so I lost interest in
it.

I'd really like to run Knoppix, but it won't boot off
CD. Some have got it running via PXE, but the time I
tried, it didn't work.
