Audio jack under Linux

Hi,

I discovered with horror that the jack plug was not working under Linux (I
tested with Mandrake 9.1, with alsa) whereas it was perfectly working under
XP.

Under Linux, when I plug a headset on the jack, nothings changes : the sound
still goes out from the TC1K speakers. One can't even hear any change due to
the plugging. And nothing at all is heard in the headset.

Under XP, when I plug a headset on the same jack, the sound of the TC1K
speakers is muted, and can be heared in the headset.

Am I alone in this case ?

Is it possible that this plug is OS/software activated? !!
