*except a whole 'nother computer. ;-)
http://linux-tablet-pc.dhs.org/ has a helpful HOWTO for installing Linux
but it assumes external CD-ROM and floppy drives. I didn't want to
purchase either so I used this relatively painless (no surgery required)
procedure for installation using my desktop computer:
1. Boot KNOPPIX [1] on another computer (no installation
necessary).
2. Type the command knoppix-terminalserver.
3. Connect the other computer with the tablet via a crossover
cable.
4. Configure the tablet to boot via PXE.
5. Reboot the tablet.
6. You now have Linux (KNOPPIX) running on the tablet! (Relax, not
any of your hard drives have been modified).
7. I didn't care even two shiny pennies to keep Microsoft's
PenPoint? Ripoff, er, I mean Windows for Pen Computing, um no, I
mean, Windows XP Tablet Edition around so at this point I
followed Debian's instructions for "3.7 Installing Debian
GNU/Linux from a Unix/Linux System" [2] and reformatted the
drive with only Linux. YMMV.
