instructions on creating mini-distros

Hi,

I want to use my ipaq rx3715 as an embedded wireless dev. platform. And for
that all I actually need is
the kernel that supports wireless and a baseline for a filesystem so it can
be wrapped into initrd.

So my question is - where can I find somesort of stripped-down filesystem
that can be assembled into a mini-distro
with a wireless-working kernel?
