Opie British Keyboard

I am Building a British Multymap Entry for opie

I have Modified a keymap entery ,
But I have a Problem getting opie to display the "Pound" sign
http://www.asciitable.com/
extended ascii character 156 0x9c

do I have to build a font with this char in ?
if so can someone point me in the correct direction
