usability of popup menus

When using an app like the calendar, holding the stylus on an appointment
brings up a popup menu. The upper lefthand corner of this menu is placed
at the tip of my stylus. Being righthanded this means that a large part
of the popup is obscured by my stylus and/or hand. Picking up the
stylus causes the popup to go away before I can choose anything from
it. Has anyone else been annoyed by this?
Would it be, or is it, possible to change the popup menu behavior so
that the menu's upper righthand corner is at the stylus instead? This
would make it much easier to use.
The file manager's popup is the same way, but at least it stays there
until you choose something from it; you can pick up the stylus to see all
of the selections. It would still be nice if this popup could have its
upper righthand corner placed at the stylus.
Of course, lefthanded people are probably quite happy with the way
things are. Could there be some global configuration that would specify
whether you wanted righthand or lefthand friendly popup menus?
  Just an idea,
