Hi

Please could we have a -- very simple -- howto allowing one ipaq, to use both familar with X or opie.
and a minimal install list, for opie

I misunderstood an email and ran:
ipkg install opie-drawpad, it worked fine, but left me with only drawpad nothing else.
i had no virtual keyboard, no console, nothing but drawpad.
this was stupid of me, but its not clear that opie isn't meant to work with familiar X (at present) unless you know what qpe is and I dont.

I had a seriously hard day yesterday trying to unravel this mess.
Many people at irc and via email dug me out of this hole. thanks!

I've added an intro to the homepage: http://opie.handhelds.org/wiki/

and some notes to: http://opie.handhelds.org/wiki/index.php3?FamiliarHelp

perhaps someone else could read and edit them?

opie drawpad is great, my daughter(6) and her cousin of the same age loved it.
However until I understand enough that I dont need a serial connection, zmodem and a load of editing to switch between them, its not very realistic.

I like and need a graphical interface, it suits my students, who have severe learning difficulties.
btw has anyone got flite working in opie(ie with a graphical front end?)

great work

I've been using linux for about 3 years, but remain on the fringes, I'm neither a programmer nor developer.
xHTML, and perhaps some short scripts.
