Hi
This mail is also send to familiar_at_handhelds.org, but it seem like there
are more traffic here, so try here also.
Well, my problem is Linux (Ubuntu 7.10) don't see the ipaq (3950) when I
put it in the cradle. Well, that is if I use Familiar (GPE and Opie). If
I use PocketPC, then it is found - a line saying something about ipaq
comes up, and no line when there is Familiar on the ipaq.
I am new to Linux, so maybe I ask some stupid questions.
I have followed the instructions in WindowsXpUsbNetworkHowTo:
* Delete /etc/modutils/usb-eth so that the old driver doesn't get loaded
anymore
* Create the file /etc/modutils/g_ether containing the following
contents only: g_ether
* In /etc/apm/scripts.d/usbnet and /etc/network/interfaces replace: usbf
with usb0, usb-eth with g_ether, sa1100usb_core with pxa2xx_udc
* Reboot your iPAQ.
BUT nothing happens. lsusb show no ipaq, and there is no usb0 on my
Ubuntu pc. So, what is the problem? Is the g_ether module not loaded
correct? How can I verify if the g_ether module is loaded correct?
Do I need to set up ip addresses before it will be found?
What addresses should I use where? I am familiar with basic networking,
but I get little confused when I have one physical connection and
several inferfaces (eth0, eth1, usbf0, usbd0, etc). My Ubuntu pc has a
wifi card that use 192.168.1.4, and the gateway (wifi AP) is
192.168.1.1. Should usb0 on the pc be in same range (192.168.1.x)? Or is
it only important it is in the same range as the address on the ipaq?
Home someone can help me here.
