Although I've only indirectly contributed to Opie (via Familiar) I've
been asked about my opinion and, now that things are turning towards the
more positive and it's less likely this adds fuel to the fire, I'll
share it. All I know for certain is that it makes me sad to see Opie
in trouble and since what really counts is the project I'd love to see
a quick settlement.

I would like to use this chance to thank you, Benjamin, for your
initiative and George for working with you towards a resolution. I'm
glad to see that the dispute appears to be so close to a resolution much
sooner than I had hoped for.

Since the IRC log mentions the to be instated Community Council, I'd
like to add that I hope it will make certain incidents easier to handle
in the future by following well defined processes and maintaining a well
defined amount of transparency (if possible under applicable law).

Unfortunately we don't have the luxury of being able to start from a
"clean table" now. Thus, for the Community Council to be able to work
successfully, it needs as many members as possible who have a genuine
interest in the success of Handhelds.org and who ideally shouldn't have
been involved in any of the problematic events of the past.

From that point of view I would welcome it if you, Benjamin, joined the
Council. I don't know you for a long time but you've shown that you can
keep a cool head inspite of a tricky situation and I like that.

Let's all work together to fix up the situation and allow for a better
future.
