generate a 8 character word instead of 6 words phrase

Does anyone have an idea of how I could modify the opie code so that instead
of a 6 words phrase, I receive a 8 character word...

I thought about encrrypting the 6-word phrase with md5 on both the server au
the client to generate a 8 character word...

This is the only way I can figure to make it work... Nad make sure that the
server knows that he will receive a 8 characters word instead of 6-word
phrase from the client....
