Summary: Large time jump causes Datebook problems
Description:
With some regularity both my IPAQ 3835 and Hx4700 end up resetting their
date to 1970. When the date is changed datebook starts a seemingly endless
stream of alarm popup alarms. There is no good way to stop this from
occurring.

What I tend to do is start the reboot applet and try to set the time and
reboot/restart opie before the system gets bogged down with events.
Sometimes that works, other times it comes back up in 1970 or comes up
giving me another endless stream of alarms.

It would be really nice if during some of the Datebook work somebody could
put a hook in to catch unreasonably large time jumps (like more than 90
days) and provide a single requester stating something like "Time has
advanced more than 90 days since last run, should I display all missed
appointments? Yes/No". Or perhaps a preference setting that automatically
bypasses the missed alarms if the time jump is more than some configuration
value? Both would be ideal!

If this has already been fixed, THANK YOU. If it should be reported to
Familiar let me know and I'll post it there too. If I could get a build
environment setup again I would love to upgrade to Opie 1.2.3. I'll be
watching both Familiar and Angstrom waiting for the next Opie!

Interesting, I will have to try to reproduce this one for sure. FYI I have
introduced a check on starting Opie that prompts you if the date is not
sensible (ie, year < 2007) which might help with this, though from what you
describe you might still be hit by alarms before you have a chance to
respond to it.

Just to confirm, the alarms start to show as soon as Opie starts with the
invalid date, or after you reset it to something sensible?
