Summary: Wrong timezone data in german localisation /
daylight savings?
Description:
Today i flashed my SL-5500G with OpenZaurus 2.9.5.5 (oz3b10.5.5) and was
really amazed. I think I could be happy with it if the following problem(s)
were solved:
- no german keyboard layout (öäüß)
- german translations take up to much space in some screens
- the worst thing:
a problem that was fixed in Sharp ROM 2.38G a few weeks ago still exists in
OZ :
Some calendar allday events (like birthdays) start at 23:00 the day before
and end at 22:59 (birthday), so this events all last two days! Unusable.
This happens in the default calendar and also in tckCalendar.
I don't know why this happens but sharp fixed it with the latest ROM (even
without resyncing nor touching any application data). Perhaps wrong
interpretation of the unixtime format in the german version (SL-5500G)
Thanx,
Zorro
(and sorry for my english)

Notes:
- no german keyboard layout (öäüß)
Install opie-multikey from the feed at www.opie.info
- the all day events issue should be fixed for a while- Please put the feed
from www.opie.info in your ipkg.conf and issue an ipkg upgrade to get the
latest versions.
Translations are currently undergoing some restructuring.

Bug status update, please ...
Still there ?

Both issues are still existing in OZ3.
Keyboard layout: There is now a workaround by installing 'keyz', which maps
the hardware keys. It#S usable but no full reproduction of the german
keyboard handling.
Timezone:
Still existing in all known ROMs except Sharps 2.38G
It happens to all events that start before 1980 (the day when daylight
savings were instroduced). Since the unixtime used in calendar is correctly
displayed I don't know how Sharp changed it in 2.38G, it may be a dirty
workaround and symptome removal.
These events are shifted by 1 hour, so they last from 23:00 (11:00 p.m.) to
22:59 (10:59 p.m.) the next day and therefore are shown as two days.
Outlook is synchronizing the birthdays in addressbook this way, so all my
friends birthdays in daylight savings area look corrupted. As a workaround
I now set all years of birth to 2002 but lost the age of the person (ok, I
could look in addressbook)
I'm not sure if it's related to opie or oz, outlook or intellisync or even
windows98. Qtopia Desktop syncs the same way! So who is to blame? Can
anybody help?
Zorro
