Summary: Opie-Reader font selector needs improvement
Description:
The Opie-Reader font selector is needlessly complicated, and it also does
not offer sufficent fonts. I would suggest one of the following:

1) Have the Set Font option in the menu fold out to a sub-menu that lets
the user select a font. Have another for font size.

2) Have a "View Fonts" menu item, which calls up the font select box, and
put a Font Size selector next to it as well. Also have a Close icon (Red
circle with X) at the far right, and leave that set of controls open until
the X is closed. That lets the user quickly switch between fonts until
he/she finds one he/she likes, then close the menu and get it out of the
way.

Option http://131.152.105.154/mantis/view_bug_advanced_page.php?f_id=2
would be the preferred method. I would also suggest offering a
line-spacing option. The selection of fonts could also stand to be
expanded.

Can you tell me what fonts are missing? Can you tell me in what way a list
of available fonts is too complicated? How can I expand the selection of
fonts beyond those which are installed?

You should understand that only the face is selectable. The size and style
are set by the document (though you can zoom in and out and you can enforce
bold for poor lighting conditions). I thought most people would prefer this
to having a single size and style of font set throughout the whole
document.

I think this bug may be a combination of effects resulting from bug 225
resulting in user misunderstanding of the functionality - propose rejection
as a duplicate?

PS lgarfiel - there are some help files at www.timwentford.uklinux.net
which I haven't managed to get working under opie (they are for the
Zaurus). The actual text is html so if you can unpack an ipk you can look
at it in a normal web browser - or feel free to email me for any
clarification etc.
