So, you built kernel with initrd support - disable initrd in kernel
config and make ext2 support built in, then you'll be able to boot from
SD card partition.
Also, you can specify "console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200n8" in kernel
params. If you have serial cable - you will get console on serial port.
That's very useful, when your system doesn't boot yet.
