CF cards can work as IDE devices or PCMCIA devices. If the hx4700 is
using ide-module, the card is working as an IDE device.
in this mode they are _pin compatible_ with IDE, however I expect you
wont be able to draw enough current for a mechanical disc (other than a
microdrive which is CF size anyway). you should be able to make an
adapter which simply supplies the needed +5V (or +5 and +12 if a desktop
device rather than a 2.5 incher...)
I have adapters that go from IDE to CF, the reverse _will_ work too.
