If I can chime in - I'd like to see this using 2.6 as well, but I just need something that works as I have a pressing need for using my 728.

I don't know much about sysfs, but I'd be willing to give it a go (that is, if someone more knowledgeable than I doesn't step forward).

BTW, does 2.4 or 2.6 have support for the SmartMedia controller in the J7xx handhelds? Seems to me that SM + HARET would be a wonderful starting point until I can get my hands on the material for the J7xx flashboards.
