I have had USB networking working with Opie on the 568, using this image.

However, I did find that it was a bit quirky with regard to the voltages
and so on. It worked better on some USB hosts than others.
Sometimes it would drop out when transferring large files etc.

I've yet to try it out with the new open embedded images from here:
