In case Google could have not helped you out, check this:

In fact, after you flashed the bootldr, the screen _should_ stay blank.
You need to communicate with it via serial port (Note: You will need a
_serial_! cradle to do this), from a desktop Linux, by a serial port
modem program 'minicom'. In theory, Windows Hyperterminal can probably
do the same (???).

Just to comfort you: my 565 is in the same state, since I could not get
a serial cradle (have an USB, anybody swap?) for it.
