Hello evrybody,
I've just buy a jornada 720 and I would have it running with Linux. I read
docs on the net and archives of this list, but I'm not sure I understand
all !
So please correct me if I'm wrong.
There's 2 ways to have linux running on a jornada 720
- The first one use hpcboot from NetBSD
This one don't need flashing ROM.
This is describe here :
http://acid.ch.pw.edu.pl/~sq5bpf/mylinux/linux-jornada720/
>From this page, it's possible to download hpcboot and a linux image named
linux-2.4.18-rmk2-hh2-jornada720.tgz with a patched kernel.
What softwares are present in this image ? Is it a Familiar version ? Is there
Opie, GPE or anything else ? Or it is just a mimimal system ?
In this page :
http://homepage1.nifty.com/kyou-kyou/jornada/en/howto_install001.html
hpcboot is used too, but it is used to launch vmlinuz and a system witch can
be downloaded here :
http://www.peter.gerwinski.de/hdg2-20021204.tar.gz
What softwares are present in this image ? Is it a Familiar version ? Is there
Opie, GPE or anything else ? Or it is just a mimimal system ?
- The second method need to flash ROM (this part can be dangerous)
BootBlaster is used to make a backup of Windows.
Bootldr is used to lanch linux
Where a precompiled distro image for jornada 720 can be downloaded for this ?
Are there binaries of Familiar for Jornada 720 ?
Are howtos wrote for iPAQ H3600 works for Jornada 720 ?
Sorry for not speaking english very well.
Thanks for your answers.
