Paul,

I got a simple version of Familiar 0.5 to work on
the 568, checking in the changes into the handhelds kernel
and bootloader. I believe that the kernel/bootldr are
set up so that one binary should work for both ipaq
(strongarm) and 568, but there is a fair amount of
careful verification needed.

Things that don't work:
Sound -- there is a very special interface via a custom
ASIC that feels like it will be somewhat tedious to get
        working.
Touch -- there needs to be tweaking of timing/filtering
on touch sample input to get the output more stable and
accurate. In addition, there is no calibration tool (the one
for the ipaq had ipaq-specific stuff in it).
USB/SDIO/IR/Smartcard -- nothing done; probably quite easy.
    Install/backup procedure from Wince.

Its a short list, but requires more time than I have
right now.

Sigh....
