ok,
the hint for enabling pm in the bootldr was for people that want to
build there own out of the cvs tree. in the then provided config.mk you
must put the line "CONFIG_POWERMGR=" to "y" .
if you want to use the bootldr binary provided by me this was done when
i compiled it so there is noting left to do with the bootldr besides
installing it.

as i can not stress this enough:
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BIG FAT WARNING!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i compiled this and putted it on my jornada720 at my own risk. so are
you doing anything you do at your own risk!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ok now over with the paranoia, i just dont want to make me enemies
around the world because somehow flashing a new bootldr has bricked
there toys. it worked for me so i GUESS there is a fair chance it will
work for anybody else with a jornada720 with flashrom.

now to the flashing of the bootldr:
you need
a)your jornada720 with the powerplug plugged in (as with ipaqs dont do
that with only the batterypower, if powersuppliy failes you have a very
expensive brick!)
b)a computer connected to the jornada via the serial cable and a
terminal thats able of doing a xmodem that shows the boot> prompt
of the jornada bootldr
c)a selfcompiled bootldr or the bootldr binary provied by me
(http://www.pin9.de/bootldr-2.19.28-j720.tgz ,this will make a
directory bootldr-2.19.28-j20 in there is beside the sources the ready
made binary bootldr called bootldr-2.19.28.bin).

if everything is setup right, at the bootldr prompt "boot>" just enter
a "load bootldr" the system will answer with something like "ready for
xmodem download" now start the upload of the new bootldr in your
terminal (via xmodem). watch. if everything is ok the bootldr will be
uploaded, verified, and flashed. do not cut the powersupply or shutdown
or do anything else with the device or the host-computer until its
finished. if everything went ok, you should see no errors and the
"boot>" prompt at the end of the procedure. say boot here and anything
should went on like usual. if you see errors do not shut down your
computer or your jornada, ether try again to upload the bootldr or my
best adivce in such a case would be to go to #handhelds.org at irc and
ask the guys there (i am there on workingdays too even this is not too
useful for something like this as i am just an average user).

a url you should visit in advance to get more background knowledge is
http://www.handhelds.org/Compaq/bootldr.html

hope this helps, i would be VERY pleased to get feedback on this.

kye
