Javier,
I didn't realize that you were unable to load short.o . This is
almost certainly the problem.
Could you use 'lsmod' and 'rmmod' to see if you can
get the parport driver to unload (and let go of the parallel
port itself)?
I am using 2.4.2-2 here and am able to run the script
'short_load' on the binary supplied. If you want to recompile
it, please be sure to modify the make file to point at your
kernel source include files.
Please let me know if you make any progress (or run into
more problems!)
Thanks
jca
