[jornada] Proceeding towards a working Linux on the Jornada 720

Hi, all!

I now have a Jornada running a Linux kernel with rudimentary power
management: When I access the file /proc/sys/pm/suspend, the light
switches off, and the system halts. (Thanks again, Viktor!:-)
However, I cannot reboot (or even resume) just by pressing the `on'
switch; it is still necessary to remove the batteries before I can
reboot again (using Microsoft's Windows CE and HPCBoot).

So in fact we have not really won anything, but we are close. 8-)

It seems for me that the current power management aims towards a
save suspend/resume mechanism - but this one is hopeless because we
cannot get rid of Microsoft's Windows CE in the ROM. However, the
"suspend" operation involves blanking the screen, and shutting down
the system should be easier than suspending. Thus it should be
possible to modify the PM code to get a "shutdown" and a "blank
screen" function instead of the disfunctional "suspend" function.

One could experiment with the existing PM code by leaving out lines
coming after the screen blanking code (if they can be identified).

I am going to upload my working setup again soon, but it would be
nicer if this already came with a more complete PM ... ;-)

Greetings,

    Peter
