I have same problem with one of Jornadas around me and I think it is
common problem. This is most probably really in the connector. There is a
switch in it that turns off speaker and it is now somehow broken. There is
no easy solution to this. HP service refuses to repair that.

I do not know how to easily disassemble jornada, therefore I was not able
to find, if this is possible to replace this jack.
